And, as a candidate for the Independent BC Initiative, the West Kelowna resident wants to be a beacon of change in the Kelowna-West riding, for people who feel the government no longer serves or responds to their needs.

Jones says Independent BC is not as concerned about hand-picking candidates, as it is providing the resources to help local candidates field local campaigns for the next provincial election, which is coming on or before October 19, 2024.

Jones says the Independent BC assessment is that approximately 1.5 million voters abstain from being a voting participant in provincial elections.

“I am not fighting for people who are already aligned with existing parties. I want to reach out and give a voice to those who feel the system is not working for them, and feel helpless to change it,” Jones said.

Salvatore Vetro, founder of Independent BC, refers to his initiative as a movement rather than a political party, calling it a non-profit entity that sees voters having more direct input, such as through referendums, on key government decisions.

Vetro points to Bill 36, the Health and Professional Act, as changing the very fabric of health care in B.C., yet believes few British Columbians are even aware of it, saying the legislation was not thoroughly debated, and was rushed through to passage in the legislature, by the NDP majority, without any public consultation.

Independent BC is A New Way to Vote in Our Province of BC

 
We are building a coalition of responsible independent MLAs. To help people get behind this grass roots initiative, and be as informed as possible, we brainstormed on how we could use the polls page on this website. We came up with three new poll questions, which are now on the Polls page.
 
People who wish to help with the Initiative, can use the poll questions to interview at least 20 people each: people they do not know. And, also keep track of the number of people that say they ‘don’t have a moment’ or otherwise.
 
It is our thought that if we put our efforts into determining whether or not there is any real, genuine interest in voting for an independent, then we will have a better chance of developing further strategies and actions that can be tailor-made to those that are willing to share why they did not vote. Abd also, to find out, first-hand, from the most random people possible, what their real issues are.
 
It’s about as grassroots as you can get. And, as much as it isn’t perfect, we invite you to adapt it as you see fit, and give it a go.

Check out a new website Independentbc.ca built by Salvatore Vetro of Vancouver, who says we can change our political landscape, easily!!!

He explains that we need more independent politicians like Jody Wilson-Raybould… I have been reading her book and encourage readers to check her FB page. Good to understand the SNC scandal and why Trudeau fired her from being the Attorney General.

The book explains the Indigenous viewpoint on how to best steward this province. Jody and Salvatore were both independents in the last election – Jody won and Salvatore didn’t – so he is creating a support team to encourage more people to vote independent and become more like the NWT.

The NWT’s large rural areas vote in a person who represents the wishes of the people and once they are elected, they decide who will run the country – instead of the division that is created by political parties and Trudeau himself. If the people of BC voted for the Independents, which we have to choose in the next 15 months, we could change how our province
is being dictated to and no longer mandate that all health care workers be triple vaccinated.

Please read any of Jody’s three books, check out Salvatore’s website to review how the NWT governs their people and then figure out who in our area could represent us and vote for them.

Share this idea with others because over a million did not vote because they are so frustrated with how the systems now functions. Let’s give them a reason to go to the polls and know that we each do make a difference.
